The city of Preston

When I first arrived in Preston, I felt I landed in a different world. I thought it would be just like my home town, since all I knew about it was that it had the same population. But I was wrong!       The busy, crowded streets of Arad (my home town) were replaced by wide streets with drivers who are very cautious and considerate (anyone who visited Arad knows how different it can be). I chose to start with this since I came to Preston by car.       The long rows of of red brick houses gave me a real British feeling. I used to see these in the movies, so going out of the house is always a wonder (the feeling gets less intense with time, but it is still a wonder). You can still see the old chimneys reaching towards the sky, and I keep expecting to see storks in their nests, even though there are no storks around Preston.       Preston is dotted with many beautiful, green parks. You must go for a walk by the river in...

Being married is...

I think I have been asked ten thousand times these past few months : "so how is married life?" How do you answer this question? I just nod and say "Great!". And that is one of the words that come to my mind when I think of being married. Why is it so great?  Let's see: first, my husband is Superman, but don't tell anyone. He has seen most of it, and he loves me for every little part of me. He has seen my weaknesses, and he has done so much to help me overcome them, one by one. I still have a long way to go, but he is next to me every step. We have been married almost six months, and we have had no arguments, no reproaching, no putting the other down. We ...

Winter is here

Image
I have been up to so much this year, and to be honest, it is very hard to recognize myself! But it's a good thing. So... after moving 4 km away from town, temperature started dropping... they got down to 15 below 0 in the morning (when I was supposed to walk to work...) Don't worry, I could go to the North Pole with my winter coat, and furry boots :D And guess what? It's been snowing since yesterday! Everything is covered in snow, and I'm not talking about 2 cm of snow, but more like 30 , and even more! This morning, while walking to work (btw, where did the pavements disappear???) I took these pictures. Enjoy the beautiful winter white!
