Life changes

I haven't written anything in more than two years! Wow! Life flies by, and you can easily miss seeing the blessings if you don't stop to breath for a second. Yes, I am still working at Lidl. It's only one day a week, a 10 hour shift. And why is that? Because now I am a mother of two beautiful, smart, loving little girls. Even though it is the most exhausting thing being with them all the time, it is the most rewarding work. I am so proud of who they are becoming! I do not realise how rewarding it is until someone makes a comment like 'Emma sang with us!' or 'Your girls are so well behaved!' or 'Emma can speak three languages?' Yes, I am a proud mum, but I get swept away by all the playing and reading and singing and hugging that I do not step back to see the results. I just flow with it. So here is a BIG THANK YOU to all those who take a moment to point out to me something related to my girls. As it seems, I get easily side tracked by talking ab...

Thoughts on teams...random revelation

I am back at work...I know, 9 months went by too fast...but yeah, I 'm back at work at Lidl. To be honest, I expected to just pick up from where I left. It actually felt natural to be back, like I had never left... except for a few things: 1) I had slowed down and my routine got rusty after such a long break... and 2) The team has changed:lost a few teammates and got a few new ones. You can imagine my frustration at being so slow at first that it would take me 4 hours to do the work I used to do in 2 hours or even less! My brain kept telling me I could do better, but my body was not catching up! So I did the one thing I could (and I am ashamed to admit it, but I have to so I can make my point)... No, not focusing on improving myself! That would be the right answer! I actually looked for excuses. And I found the worst ones! No, not that I was tired, or that I was off for too long, or that a baby/toddler at home is draining! That would be a bit more acceptable. My excuses were ...

This weekend brought a LOT of snow, so I decided to do my part at work quickly, and spend the rest of the day at home - my home :) It is my place of refuge, my haven from the world. Anyway, this post is not about how good my apartment is, but it's about ME - like always :)    I looked over my goals for 2012. I don't think I'll do all of those things, but I am doing something else that I swore last year I would not do again. I am on the planning committee for the YSA convention this summer. I decided in November to do things that would get me out of my comfort zone - and I signed up for something waaaay out! But today I realized that what I thought it would be a pain, is actually something I like to do. It's ok, I'm also the head of a subcommittee, no big deal, I guess I jumped out of my zone, not only stepped out of it. Today i looked over the notes from the last meeting, over the ideas we all contributed with, and tried to figure out what we need to do. I...

Happy New Year

2011 is over, and 2012 is ready to become a better year - and that because I want to make it so.  I can't say 2011 was bad, it had its ups and downs.Looking back, I guess it was a pretty good year. Things that happened: - My cousin moved to Arad - having family closer makes a big difference - I traveled more to Hungary - helps me better understand my Hungarian roots - I was part of the planning committee of a 9 country YSA Convention - it sure got me out of my comfort zone, and learnt a lot from it - Participated in a 9 country YSA Convention - the first for me - it was fun to meet many new people, and make new friends - I was shop manager at the gas station, it was not what I expected, and learnt that you cannot change things by yourself, with everyone involved opposing change - I got a new job at a computer store (build, fix, sell computers, computer parts, printers...). I'm in charge of acquisitions, which means I need to learn the technical part, and always know wh...

Changes

It's interesting how when we talk about changes, we think of "take it one step at a time". It would make it easier, right? I am more of a "radical" changer - well, life makes me do that :D I was so used to working at OMV- even though I was unhappy, stressed, and tired all the time. Then I got called for an interview, and everything changed. It was the first real interview that I had ever gone to. I thought it would be nerve wrecking, and that I would end up making a fool of myself - it went the other way: I went in confident, and I made a good impression. It was an interview for a job at a computer store and service. I do not have a lot of knowledge about it, so here I am now, having a job in a field that I like, pushing my limits by learning new things every day. I had no idea when I started that it would be such a challenge! And oh, how I love it! Changes: fix schedule (8 to 5 job, Mo-Fri), free weekends, no girls (no offence to girls, but I do enjoy the d...
