HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY

Happy Thanksgiving to all you out there celebrating this day. To me personally, this holiday doesn't mean too much, the whole history with the Indians... didn't affect my country's history, so not my life I guess.
I was thinking though about what this day means. It's a time when people think of the things they are grateful/thankful for, right? So it's a time to analyze your life, a time to see all the blessings in your life. It's a day when you think of your family, your friends, the people you care about, and the people who care about you. I know it's a thing we should do a lot more often, but we are so busy thinking of our daily problems to stop and think of what matters most for us. We are all driven in all our choices and actions by some desires, we have things motivating us. What is that reason fr you? Money, faith, friends, love, hate, greed, laziness... Why do you do what you do? I guess it's a good day to make priorities in our lives, to see what matters most to us, and hold on to those things, to those people who we love, and those who love us, to the faith that brings us close to God, to happiness.
I've been really bad at all these things, and writing them down is a way for me to get off my lazy, selfish butt, and change some things in my life. I came up with a list of things I am grateful for, I tried to keep it from sounding very general and common.
1. My mom's sickness that helped the rest of us understand how important families are
2. Being a seminary teacher, even though I don't get to teach... it keeps me focused on the most important book ever - The Book Of Mormon
2. Cristi, the guy at work, who has been my guinea pig for my attempts (successful) of flirting
3. Facebook, a. where I can play Mafia, get super rich, and send gifts to my friends
b. see what my friends are up to, and laugh at all their funny pictures
4. Gabi's couch that I get to sleep on, it's right next to the heater
5. Bus drivers, who will give me free rides to Bucuresti, or any other city they go through, just because I'm nice to them
6. Long walks to, and from, work, keeping me fit
7. Time to cook, and enjoy good recipes
8. My mp3 player, which has become one of my best friends
Now on the more serious side of things, I am very grateful for my friends, for people who listen to me, and put up with my complaining, for people who teach me through their examples how I can become a better person. I try to remember how important a role my testimony plays in everything I do. I know who I am, and who my God and Father is, and I seek to please Him, and I am grateful for every chance I have to draw closer to Him.
Every day is a new day to accomplish something, no matter how small it may seem. I hope I will take advantage of every day, and not let it go to waste! I fail most of the time, but I'll keep trying. That's what matters in the end.
Have a happy thanksgiving day, and I hope that each of us will have a similar day more often to keep us focused on the things that matter most!
