I Am NOT the Entertainer
It's 2:20 am, and here I am at work... taking a break actually. I am too annoyed to stand out there, so I am venting a bit (way better than smoking). It takes a lot to get me to feel like this - annoyed, angry, like I could say something I wish I could take back... maybe that's why I am venting here, so I wouldn't end up doing something I might regret later.
What I am trying to say here is... I AM NOT THE ENTERTAINER! My job description: cash in gas and other products people buy... be nice to people... make them feel welcome. IT DOES NOT SAY "ENTERTAIN PEOPLE"... at least not drunk ones!
I love talking to people, smile at them, and be nice to all the customers. I want them to leave with a good impression, and next time come knowing that they are welcomed with a smile.
I like to tell customers little jokes, make them forget for a second their troubles, and see them smile, even hear them laugh. I'm pretty good at it.
Half an hour ago, two drunk guys came in, showing off with how much money they have. They started talking dirty to my coworker, but she seemed to enjoy it. She kept joking back, and talk dirty back at them (I do not mean swearing, but dirty sex stuff... ). So I stepped back, stood at my register, and tried to find something to do. Then, out of the blue, the two guys and the girl I work with turned all their conversations to me - assumptions about who I sleep with, then asking me to take my vest off... I was outraged... I told them i had nothing to tell them and show them, so I left the store. I took my big cup of tea, came in the back and turned on my laptop. Here I am, declaring again: I AM NOT THE ENTERTAINER!!! I AM NOT A TOY!!! and I REFUSE TO BE A PART OF THAT WORLD!
I feel better now :D So if anyone is up to some good entertaining (good, clean jokes, smart conversations...) I can be your entertainer. But if you are drunk, or want to show off, or bring up dirty stuff, remember: I AM NOT THE ENTERTAINER! Find yourself another dummy to do that with.
Now that I am done, I am off to serving people again, with a smile on :D
